Hola,
This is my first blog entry of my first blog, so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I see that as a positive. The purpose of this blog is to find the meaning of life. It's a fairly tall order. But after 36 years of not figuring life out without a blog, I thought that making a blog may help. I will not be discussing politics, or social issues, as those are topics that have contibuted to this loss of understanding of what life is supposed to be.
So, 6 weeks ago I decided to get rid of my TV and start to experience life. I did this for 2 reasons. One, to create more time for hobby's and life experience and two, to save money. I made the realization that life without a TV is significantly more expensive (unless you become a buddist monk, but those flights to Tibet aren't cheap.), and this increased expense caused me to not have money for life experiences. It is for this reason that I am going to bring TV back into my life.
But this time it is going to be different. I will not be taking my normal passive, reactive approach to TV watching. I am going to let it take over my life. I am going to be proactive with my planning, and document my entire TV "Experience." I have already scheduled 4 hours of continuous television viewing Monday through Friday and 14 hours on both Saturday and Sunday. My entire TV expenditure for digital cable with DVR is just over $70 per month. This equates to a little over $2 per day and when analyzed even further, nearly 25 cents per hour for entertainment. I can find nothing that compares.
The cable man shows up this Saturday at 9AM. So there is a signifant amount of planning that needs to be done by then. I mean, due to the programming schedules, many of my favorite shows are on at the same time. In some cases I am triple booked! This means that I cannot depend solely on the DVR, but I must utilize sites such as youtube and HULU to assure that all of my shows can be seen throughout the course of the week. I need to have a plan and I need to work that plan. I can leave nothing to chance. This is my life, and it is too important for chance.
So for now I will be watching DVD movies to prepare the stamina that I will need for my new adventures. I will update you all when I have more data. Until then, vary your programming and never settle for a rerun.
Adios!
